UK Direct Debit is a duly appointed Agent to Card Management Services Limited (CMS) who are a wholly owned subsidiary of London & Zurich plc which was incorporated in 1989 and converted to public status in 1996.

Although UK Direct Debit is therefore able to offer access to all the services provided by London & Zurich plc, at the present time, we are concentrating upon the single most effective tool available for a business to collect monies it is owed: Direct Debit.

UK Direct Debit - the Credit Collection Centre - was born out of both a need and a desire by our founder together with his considerable irritation with the UK Banking system! In his words:

"the need was simple: use of direct debits to control my business cashflow and for me to be in control of it rather than my clients and customers, the desire was equally simple: to be paid on time and the irritation: the UK Banking system would not let me have the ability to collect money by Direct Debits through BACS (Bankers Automated Clearing System).

 

 

 

 

 





  

"Being interested in the reasons why (and in frustrated need!), I investigated and found that there are effectively three reasons why the High Street Banks will not support small and young businesses. Firstly there's their 'commercial imperative' - there is a cost associated with setting up the necessary systems - if the Bank can't make money they're unlikely to help. Secondly, Banks have to sponsor each applicant for Originator status - if you're new they're not going to be happy! Finally, when an applicant is put forward by a Bank they have to INDEMNIFY the system against that customer of theirs. In simple terms there's a risk and Banks generally do not do risk!

"OK so the Bank would not help - just to be sure I asked two more, and got the same result! Now what? - More research!

"The good news was that the High Street Banks are not the only organisations that are members of BACS. Indeed I had even met a Director of a plc several years ago that not only offered a Direct Debit Collection Service it also had an 'insured Direct Debit' - a collection service with a 'guarantee'. I contacted them, my contact had left and they had a policy of charging lots of money with a hefty minimum monthly premium to boot! Um! Time for some 'outside the box thinking'!"

The result is now here and successfully trading as "UK Direct Debit". We are the duly appointed Agent for London and Zurich Plc and are able to offer ALL businesses Direct Debits!

We operate with a very simple principle: USE IT, don't ABUSE IT or you'll LOSE IT!
